Monica Maher Scholarship:
Monica Maher, BA, RN, CIC dedicated her life’s work in nursing to infection prevention and control as an Infection Preventionist and Leader at Emory Healthcare for many years. Monica served in many volunteer capacities with the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). The impact of her work has literally touched thousands of lives. Monica was a passionate Infection Preventionist that not only advocated for her patients, but equally so for the profession she was so dedicated to. While Monica has left this physical earth, her impact has not. Her husband, Ed Maher, has generously created a scholarship in her name. The scholarship is $5,000 for 2023. The specific scholarship qualifications are below. Scholarships will be accepted on a rolling basis and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Scholarship Qualifications:
- Be a Member of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of APIC in good standing
- Be a Registered Nurse or student enrolled in an accredited nursing educational program at the bachelors, masters, post-masters, or doctoral level
- Successfully complete the required scholarship application
- Scholarship recipients will provide a written report of their learnings as a result of the scholarship to the donor
